Google released Nano Banana 2.1 for image generation and editing, replacing Nano Banana 2 from February. It runs on Gemini 3.6 Flash, outputs up to 4K, accepts up to 14 reference images and can ground on Google Search. Developer pricing is about $0.0336 per standard 1K image, roughly half what the previous model cost. Google reports 1,050 Elo for overall preference with thinking enabled, against 990 for Nano Banana 2 and 935 for the pricier Nano Banana Pro. The old model's API shuts down on 29 October, and the replacement is this one.
