Qwen released Qwen-Image-2.1, a 7 billion parameter model that generates and edits images. It went to Hugging Face, ModelScope and GitHub at once, with day one support in ComfyUI, Diffusers, vLLM-Omni and SGLang. The weights are downloadable. The licence is not open. Qwen-Image and Qwen-Image-2512 both shipped under Apache 2.0, which lets you sell what you make. This one ships under the Qwen Research Licence: research and evaluation only, and a separate grant from Qwen for anything commercial. It was second on Hugging Face trending on 24 September, with 28,000 downloads.
