OpenAI announced a Decisions API, two weeks after the startups that invented it
14 daysfrom Jev's launch to OpenAI's answer
OpenAI announced a Decisions API at DevDay, in limited preview. It constrains a model to a set of predefined answers for fast classification, instead of returning prose. That is the product TypeSafe AI launched as Jev on 15 September, and Convai published as Laya, under Apache 2.0, on the 19th. Hacker News predicted exactly this on the 21st, with 318 points behind a post saying OpenAI was well placed to fast-follow Jev. No price, no latency figure and no benchmark came with it. So whether it competes on the two things that made the category interesting is still unknown.
