Anthropic put 5% of its shares into a public benefit fund

~20%of shares now pointed at the public good, in total

Anthropic committed 5% of its shares to a new Public Benefit Fund, subject to stockholder approval. Another 2% can be added for every 50% rise in company value above a baseline. With the co-founders pledging 80% of their own equity, and an employee match about half of staff join, Anthropic says roughly 20% of its shares now point at the public good. The fund is a wholly owned LLC, not a charity, so it can pay people directly as well as fund nonprofits. Governance details are promised later.
